What Is Endovenous Laser Ablation (EVLA)?

How Does It Work?
- After we apply a local anaesthetic to the leg, we insert the laser into the varicose vein. In this procedure, the laser energy damages the vein wall and seals of the faulty vein. The damaged vein eventually disappears as the body reabsorbs it over time.

How Long Does The Procedure Take?
- Every patient is different but on average the Endovenous Laser treatment for varicose veins procedure takes 60 – 90 minutes.
Is The Procedure Painful?
- There is a slight sting when the local anaesthetic is applied. During the laser treatment, there is a small amount of discomfort.
- After the procedure, there is sometimes some mild soreness around the area of the leg that was treated.
Can I Walk After The Treatment?
- Yes, you can walk after treatment. This is one of the biggest benefits of laser treatment, the downtime in comparison to surgery is minimal.
Do I need To Wear Compression Stockings?
- We require our patients to wear compression bandages for 3 days after treatment.
Does It Remove My Varicose Veins Completely?
